FAMILIES IN TRANSITION RECEIVES A DONATION FROM BRADY SULLIVAN PROPERTIES FOR ITS NEW EMERGENCY FAMILY PLACE RESOURCE CENTER AND SHELTER

$50,000 Awarded to Provide Services and Housing for Homeless Children and Families

MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition (FIT), a Manchester, Concord, and Dover, NH, based homeless services provider, is the recipient of $50,000 donation from Brady Sullivan Properties through the Community Development Finance Authority’s (CDFA) Tax Credit Program. This donation will support Families in Transition in the construction of a new family shelter on Lake Avenue in Manchester, NH.

The FIT “Family Place Resource Center and Shelter”, once completed, will provide a home to 80 parents with 120 children in Manchester. Arthur Sullivan, Principal Partner at Brady Sullivan explained why they support Families in Transition, “As business owners and people who do well in the City of Manchester, it is important for us to take on issues in the city, such as homelessness. If we all do a little, a lot gets done!”

The shelter will also contain a resource center facility that will provide critical services for the families at the shelter, such as access to free health care, employment assistance, specialized therapeutic preschool, and nutritious meals. The resource center will enable families to quickly and easily access the services that they need to regain housing stability and long-term wellness.

“We are very appreciative of this generous donation from Brady Sullivan Properties,” commented Maureen Beauregard, President of Families in Transition. “This donation was essential in the start of construction of the Family Place. We appreciate the support.”

The construction of the new emergency family shelter began in June 2015. As of today, FIT has raised 90% of the construction costs, but is still in need of $250,000. Interested businesses and individuals can donate via FIT’s website at www.fitnh.org or by calling (603)641-1143 ext.324.

Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that provides safe, affordable housing and social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. FIT also owns and operates two thrift stores in Manchester and Concord, NH, as well as a commercial cleaning company, FIT Cleaning Solutions, all of which serve as economic engines to help pay for services that FIT provides.
