Chilifest 2011

Chilifest logoThe World’s Championship Chili Cookoff returns to Manchester on Friday, September 30 through Sunday, October 2, 2011. This fun, family-friendly event boasts great food, entertainment, shopping, and fun for all tastes. This is the second time the New England region has hosted this event and we are conservatively estimating around 25,000 visitors unique to this event over the three day period.

WCCC 2011 has been made possible by the International Chili Society which sanctions official chili cookoffs worldwide. Competitor’s travel from around the country for their chance of cash prizes and awards up to $25,000. The ICS is the largest food contest/festival organization in the world and has been featured on the Food Network.

The City of Manchester has chosen Families in Transition as one of three benefit charities for this event. This is one of our newest housing developments where participants stay for varying lengths of time until more permanent housing is available. Although each family has their own bedroom and bathroom, they share a communal kitchen that requires staffing and healthy meals for the children and adults housed at this location.
