FAMILIES IN TRANSITION TO HOST HALLOWEEN THEMED 5K RUN

Raising Awareness and Money to Provide Housing to Homeless Families

CONCORD, NH – Families in Transition will host the 3rd annual “Wicked FIT Run” on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 9:30.AM in Rollins Park in Concord, NH. The certified 5K course will provide runners and walkers the opportunity to support Families in Transition’s (FIT) efforts of providing a home and hope for homeless families and individuals.  This is a family-friendly run/walk where people are encouraged to dress in costumes.

This year’s goal is to have 600 runners/walkers in hopes that, collectively, they will raise $5,000 from their friends, family, and colleagues, to help “chase homelessness away homelessness.”  This race supports people like FIT participant, Wendy, who was formerly homeless, “The biggest impact has been FIT providing my family with a home that I can maintain on my single income.”

There are currently 1,747 homeless children in New Hampshire.  This past year Families in Transition provided housing and social services to 585 people, half of whom were children, and helped them battle the cycle of poverty.
