Substance Use
At FIT, we recognize that helping an individual or family maintain housing stability often takes more than simply providing a home. The supportive services we provide focus on the strengths of each and every participant and their family while providing vital opportunities to build the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and stability.
Substance use destroys the lives of many, and is all too often a root cause of homelessness. Families in Transition offers a specialized Recovery Program for homeless individuals and community members who struggle with substance use and have a history of trauma. The program is also open to parents involved with child protective services or referred by local social service agencies for assistance.
Our general outpatient program and innovative, four-month-long Intensive Outpation Program (IOP) help participants recognize, examine and understand the effects of substance abuse and trauma on their lives and the lives of their families. During treatment, participants receive child care as needed and transportation to the program within Manchester, based on program eligibility. This program is open to community members as well as to Families in Transition residents. For more information, call (603) 935-7900 x 1711 or e-mail iop@fitnh.org.
