MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition (FIT) AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Program recently released its Year in Review Report, “Building a Brighter Future in NH,” which highlights positive outcomes for low-income clients and communities throughout the Granite State. FIT VISTA members’ projects ranged from helping to develop a community garden and access to nutritious food, to ensuring access to affordable housing.

“Our Year in Review highlights the 15 agencies within our program that are effectively utilizing the resource of a VISTA member in their efforts to end poverty and inequality,” said Emily Melhorn, Families in Transition Manager of Volunteers and FIT VISTA Program. “Collectively, over a 12-month period, FIT VISTA members raised more than $540,000 in cash and grants, collected almost 170,000 in-kind donations, recruited over 2,600 volunteers, and helped nearly 2,600 people across New Hampshire. Our VISTA’s, much like Peace Corps Members, truly make a difference in the lives of those most in need.”
