Families in Transition held a press conference to announce the acquisition of the nonprofit Manchester Emergency Housing, which provides staffing and resources to Manchester’s only family shelter. This now broadens FIT’s scope to provide immediate shelter to homeless families. Additionally, we announced our plans to give the shelter a “makeover” later in July with the help of area businesses.
Businesses and organizations donating time, items and trades skills to the “shelter makeover” include: Digital Prospect Corporation; FairPoint Communications; Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; Merchants Automotive Group; New Hampshire Housing; United Health Care; US Airways/Do Crew; and students from the Derryfield School.
