TV Star Hair Stylist Wows Locals at Bedford Salon

Stylists give makeovers to Families in Transition clients at H2O Salon and Spa.

He came “from Manchester, England to greater Manchester, NH” he joked.

New York City hair stylist and British native Nick Arrojo arrived at H2O Salon & Spa Friday, July 20 to to launch his line of hair-care products and wrap up a makeover event for clients and volunteers of Families in Transition NH.

Arrojo (pronounced uh-row’-joe) gave complimentary individual consultations to each woman. Besides a new look and confidence boost for the women in the chairs, Arrojo reinforced to stylists the importance of listening to clients.

“Do they blow dry their hair? Do they use any styling products, or just wash and go?” he said. “They’ll educate you.”

Arrojo appeared on “What Not to Wear” for seven seasons on The Learning Channel.

Arrojo and H2O Salon Spa Owner/Art Director Heather Owen have similar backgrounds in terms of professional training and philosophies. They both believe in lifelong learning for their creative teams, and in giving clients wearable, custom haircuts that work for their lifestyles.

Arrojo held a private class with H2O staff Friday morning before the second half of the community outreach event, designed to give women in the shelter and intensive outpatient programs of Families in Transition a boost in confidence along with a new look.

Owen has offered similar courtesies for Families in Transition, a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless families, and other groups before, instead of hiring professional models to try the new colors and techniques.

The H2O Salon team worked with the FIT NH models on Monday morning, giving them the latest color techniques and treatments – from “ombre” (pronounced om’-bray) to hair painting and “dip dye,” and cuts in advance of the individual consultations with Nick today.

H2O is located on South River Road in the Bedford Grove shopping center (7 Colby Court) between the Hannaford and Panera. H2O Salon & Spa has been named Best of NH three times by New Hampshire Magazine, and was featured last year in Elle magazine’s Top 100 Salons in the U.S.
