Family-Friendly Race Open to All Runners and Walkers

WOLFEBORO, NH – Families in Transition-New Horizons’ (FIT-NH) Run for Hope, on Thursday, August 1, on the Cotton Valley Rail Trail, Wolfeboro, NH, is a family-friendly run/walk. All money raised will help support the organizations efforts of providing a home and hope to individuals experiencing homelessness.

FIT-NH’s Hope House is the only short-term emergency housing option for homeless families in Carroll County. Since the start of 2019, it has provided shelter and case management services to 39 people, 21 of whom were children. The Hope House has seven bedrooms each with their own bathrooms and shared kitchen and living room spaces. It for families living in the Governor Wentworth Regional School District who are experiencing homelessness.

Sarah, a recent alumni of FIT-NH’s Hope House, prior to her moving on to subsidized housing, said, “We literally lost everything. My kids have been through a lot in the last few years. But, being here at Hope House gave me the opportunity to have room for my new baby and stay together as a family. To be a single mom, even working a full time job, making pretty decent money, it’s impossible (to afford a market rate apartment).  Having a stable place to live for my kids is the most important thing for them. They need a home. Everybody needs a home,” continued Sarah.

The Run for Hope begins at 5 p.m. People are encouraged to sign up and fundraise in advance. They can do so by going to http://support.fitnh.org/hope. There will be a post-event barbeque for all attendees.

“NH Healthy Families is pleased to partner with Families in Transition-New Horizons to support the important work they do in communities throughout the state,” said Jennifer Weigand, Plan President & CEO of NH Healthy Families. “The Run for Hope is one of many events that draws critical awareness to the issues of homelessness and housing insecurity and we are proud to serve as premier sponsor for this event.”
