RUNNERS/WALKERS OF ALL AGES PARTICPATE IN FAMILY-FRIENDLY 5K IN WOLFEBORO, NH – Families in Transition, a homeless services provider, hosted its first annual Wicked FIT Run in Wolfeboro on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Ninety runners and walkers raised $6,000 to help “chase away homelessness.”

Community Members Run and Walk in Support of Families in Transition

WOLFEBORO, NH – Families in Transition’s (FIT) Wicked FIT Run came to Wolfeboro, NH, for the first time Saturday, September 30. The race in Wolfeboro raised $6,000 to support FIT’s new short-term emergency housing for homeless families, the Hope House, which will have its groundbreaking on October 4, 2017, in Wolfeboro. The Hope House will house seven families at a time, totaling an anticipated 43 parents and 84 children each year.

“We are excited to see so many people show up and participate in the race in support of the Hope House,” said Maureen Beauregard, President and Founder of FIT. “We look forward to being able to provide housing and social services to the families most in need in the Governor Wentworth Regional School District.”

The lead event sponsors include Spectrum Marketing Companies, Jim and Billie Talbott Charitable Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Meredith Village Savings Bank, and Huggins Hospital.

Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that provides safe, affordable housing and social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. FIT also owns and operates two thrift stores in Manchester and Concord, NH, which serve as economic engines to help pay for services that FIT provides.
