MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition – New Horizons (FIT), a Manchester, Concord and Dover, NH, based homeless services provider, received a $50,000 donation towards the cost of construction for its new emergency family shelter and resource center on Lake Avenue in Manchester, NH. AutoFair Automotive Group’s donation was made through the Community Development Finance Authority’s (CDFA) Tax Credit Program.
The FIT “Family Place Resource Center and Shelter”, a $2.3 million project, will help meet the growing need for emergency shelter for families in Manchester. The new facility will also include critical services for the families at the shelter, such as access to free health care, employment assistance, specialized therapeutic preschool, and guaranteed nutritious meals.
“I was pleased to make this donation because I knew the money would go directly to helping families in times of difficult transition,” said Andy Crews, President and CEO of AutoFair Automotive Group. “ I have seen, especially in recent years in Manchester and surrounding communities, the demand for help by people in need seems to be increasing rather than going down, so to be able to donate to help people who need the most basic of help like shelter, food and other living resources seems like an important way to give back. Knowing that I am helping families make it through tough periods in life and get back to some normalcy and housing as well as get the services that are required is very fulfilling to me,” continued Crews.
“The support of Andy and AutoFair means so much to Families in Transition – New Horizons,” said Maureen Beauregard, President of Families in Transition – New Horizons. “This is a huge project and the financial support of community is essential to its success. This project will ensure that families experiencing homelessness are able to easily access the housing and services that they need to regain stability and long-term wellness.”
Families in Transition – New Horizons is still actively fundraising for the project and is in need of raising an additional $247,441 in order for the construction to begin on the project in June. Interested businesses and individuals can visit www.fitnh.org/familyplace to learn more about the project and how they, too, can support this project.
