FAMILIES IN TRANSITION RECEIVES FUNDING FROM CROSS INSURANCE FOR
ITS NEW FAMILY PLACE RESOURCE CENTER AND SHELTER
$25,000 Awarded to Help Build New Emergency Housing for
Homeless Children and Their Families
MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition (FIT), a Manchester, Concord and Dover, NH, based homeless services provider, is the recipient of $25,000 donation from Cross Insurance through the Community Development Finance Authority’s (CDFA) Tax Credit Program. The donation will help construct emergency housing in Manchester, NH, and enhance FIT’s services for homeless families and individuals.
The FIT “Family Place Resource Center and Shelter” will help meet the growing need for shelter for homeless families in the Manchester area. The Resource Center facility will also include critical services for the families at the shelter, such as access to free health care, employment assistance, specialized therapeutic preschool, and guaranteed nutritious meals. The dual purpose nature of the project will ensure that families with complex and varied needs are able to quickly and easily access the services that they need to regain housing stability and long-term wellness.
“We are thankful for the support from Cross Insurance,” commented Maureen Beauregard, President of Families in Transition. “This is a huge project and the financial support of community is essential to its success. This donation is crucial to the beginning of construction for the project. Our goal is to build a shelter and resource center so families will have access the services that they need.”
The construction of the new emergency family shelter will begin this month. As of today, FIT has raised 90% of the construction costs, but is still in need of $250,000. Interested businesses and individuals can donate via FIT’s website at www.fitnh.org or by calling (603)641-1143 ext.324. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 17, at 11:00 AM.
