Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative

Sharing our commitment to growth in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Families in Transition is embarking on a new initiative; one where we strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion in all that we do. We know that we need to become more diverse and welcome a variety of perspectives to better serve our participants. We believe that raising awareness around this initiative will assure our employees, volunteers, and participants that they can be their unique and authentic selves.

Families in Transition’s mission is a bold one: to prevent and break the cycle of homelessness. This mission becomes possible only when we come together as an organization, community, and with the people we serve. It requires dedication, commitment, openness to different points of view, and an inclusive environment. We recognize that people come from diverse backgrounds and believe every human being is inherently deserving of dignity and worth. The butterfly in our logo speaks to this belief and to each person’s capacity for growth and transformation.

Our journey into the creation of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is just beginning. We are committed to taking the first steps because it’s the right thing to do and will strengthen our mission.

“We want to ensure that we are offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for staff and those we serve. The adoption of a DEI initiative like this is closely aligned with our core values and is a must for the future growth and success of our organization.”

~ Maria Devlin, President & CEO
