How to Volunteer at Families in Transition

Riley

Families in Transition depends upon the assistance and generosity of our volunteers and donors. Your help either through volunteer service, financial or in-kind support of our organization will provide the support necessary for Families in Transition to continue providing housing and services to homeless single parents and single women.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities at Families in Transition.
We can match you up with a project that fits your schedule, whether it be short-term or long term, weekly or even just a few hours per month.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Children's Literacy & Arts Program - Spend time with the kids in the program reading and working on art projects. There's a one hour a week commitment for six-week periods.
  • Childcare volunteers for Intensive Outpatient Program; morning and afternoon/evening opportunities available.
  • Tutors for Homework Club program.
  • Female and male mentors to assist with boys' and girls' groups.
  • One-time volunteers interested in sharing a special talent (ie story-telling, dance, juggling, singing, art, cooking, etc) with the kids.
  • Donation coordination - If you don't have the time to come in and volunteer, consider coordinating a drive for new and used items. For more information or ideas on types of projects to host, please contact the Coordinator of Volunteers & Donations.
  • Family Outfitters - Our thrift store is always looking for people to help sort and put away the donations that it receives.

For more information on these or other volunteer opportunities, please contact the Coordinator of Volunteers & Donations, (603) 935-7900 x1717.
