MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition has named Emily Manire as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, following a nationwide search and approval by the organization’s Board of Directors.

A nonprofit leader with more than 25 years of experience in human services, Manire brings a strong record of strengthening organizations and expanding resources to better serve communities. She will begin her role in mid-November.

Most recently, Manire served as Executive Director of Nashua Center, where she led the organization through a period of significant growth. During her tenure, she expanded organizational revenue, strengthened fundraising efforts, built a strong leadership team, and enhanced board governance and operational infrastructure. Her work helped position the organization for long-term sustainability while maintaining a focus on quality services and mission impact.

Known for her collaborative leadership style, Manire has spent her career bringing people together around a shared purpose. She is recognized for fostering strong partnerships, developing effective governance structures, and creating organizational cultures grounded in transparency, accountability, and respect.

“Emily stood out not only for her leadership experience, but for her ability to bring people together around a shared vision,” said Steve Norton, Chair of the Families in Transition Board of Directors. “She has a proven track record of strengthening organizations, developing strong teams, and building meaningful partnerships. As we look ahead, Emily is the right leader to guide Families in Transition into its next chapter. We are excited about the future of the organization under her leadership.”

Before joining Nashua Center, Manire held a variety of leadership roles at Gateways Community Services, where she gained extensive experience in program operations, quality improvement, compliance, and service delivery. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside individuals and families facing a wide range of challenges, including housing instability, behavioral health needs, developmental disabilities, and barriers to employment.

For Manire, joining Families in Transition is both a professional opportunity and a personal connection to the organization’s mission.

“I have always believed that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a quality life with dignity and respect,” said Manire. “What drew me to Families in Transition is its commitment to meeting people where they are and helping them access the basic human needs that so many of us take for granted. Housing, food, support, and opportunity are the foundation for stability and success. I am honored to join this organization and look forward to working alongside the staff, Board, donors, volunteers, and community partners to build on the incredible work already happening here.”

For more than three decades, Families in Transition has been a leader in addressing homelessness and food insecurity in New Hampshire. Through emergency shelter, supportive housing, food access programs, and stabilization services, the organization helps individuals and families build stronger futures.

As Families in Transition enters its next chapter, Manire is eager to build on the organization’s strong legacy while working alongside staff, supporters, and community partners to create lasting change for the people it serves.
